Summit House

Summit House is a response to both the home’s architectural character and its dramatic alpine setting. Located in the heart of Mt. Buller, Victoria, overlooking one of its main slopes, the project called for a design that could soften the dominance of hard architectural surfaces while enhancing the warmth already present in the structure’s material palette. 

Rather than designing for a single lifestyle mode, the interiors were layered and zoned to allow the occupants to move fluidly between solitude and sociability. Thoughtful lighting, soft furnishings, and tactile materials all contribute to a sense of intimacy, while open sightlines and flexible spaces ensure the home can expand to accommodate guests comfortably. Ultimately, the design delivers a balance of practicality and warmth, supporting the family’s seasonal rhythms while expressing their creative and outdoors-oriented lifestyle.
